Job summary

CHILDRENS SPEECH & LANGUAGE SERVICES ARE EXPANDING!

Greenwich Children & Young People's Speech & Language Therapy Services are looking to appoint following increased demand for our services.

This is an opportunity for shortly to qualify students, newly qualified or a B5 with experience. You will have the opportunity to work with early years or school-age children & young people with a range of speech, language & communication needs. Providing assessment, advice & intervention, with a supportive team of therapists & assistants. These posts have arisen due to increased interest from local nurseries & schools to provide high-quality Speech & Language Therapy provision.

There is the opportunity for professional development & the support of a team of therapists & assistants. You will have access to admin, managerial & clinical support. CPD is supported & the development of clinical interests is encouraged. We have embedded support to offer for B5 therapists including:

  • regular 1:1 supervision
  • group supervision
  • peer support
  • Oxleas preceptorship programme Oxleas AHP Preceptorship

Main duties of the job

The Oxleas Children's Speech and Language Therapy Services offer a range of services with specialist teams across EYs, ASD, Hearing Impairment, Dysfluency, Specialist Resourced Provisions and SEMH. We work closely across teams to provide clinical support and second opinions.

As the post holder you will:

  • provide a clinical and advisory Speech and Language Therapy service to children and young people with diverse speech, language and communication needs
  • have opportunity to develop both assessment and intervention skills
  • work as part of an integrated team with Teachers, outreach services and other health professionals. To support parent/carers and the children in all issues related to clinical care with support from more experienced colleagues
  • have opportunities for involvement in service development projects, example projects currently taking place are: The Bilingualism Quality Improvement Project and The Developmental Language Disorder working group

Examples of training accessed in the past 12 months includes: Nuffield Dyspraxia, Shape Coding, PECS, Bilingualism, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, with the following training courses upcoming: assessment and intervention for Evidence based for DLD Moor House, Core Vocabulary Intervention, Attention Autism.
