We have an opportunity to appoint a permanent, part-time (0.6wte) Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist within the Bromley West Intensive Case Management for Psychosis Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, who has substantial experience of working with people with complex mental health problems. You would be working as an integral part of our well-established MDT, which is focused on improving the lives of people diagnosed with psychosis or bipolar affective disorder.
Working alongside three other clinical psychologists and an assistant psychologist within the wider MDT, you would offer a range of psychological interventions to service users on an individual, family and group basis.
You would have access to regular individual supervision and the Trust has a good record of providing specialist supervision groups to support psychological therapists with areas of complexity and development (e.g. CBTp, trauma and psychosis etc.). There are regular psychological therapies training events.
The team base is close to Beckenham High Street, with easy access to local shops and free parking at the base or in nearby roads.
Main duties of the job
In this post, you would have plenty of opportunity to develop skills in delivering a variety of interventions depending on your interest and experience, as we put together varied programmes in response to client need - these can include specialist psychological interventions in mindfulness, hearing voices, recovery, CBT for psychosis, and Bipolar Affective Disorder and third wave approaches. There would be the opportunity to support the development of family interventions for psychosis locally and the development of therapy skills and knowledge within the team. The role also includes working at a consultative level within the team, alongside participating in community team assessments and crisis work.

Clinical1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the ICMP team, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.3. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based standard care plans.6. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.7. To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues.3. To continue to gain wider post-qualification experience of clinical or counselling psychology over and above that provided within the principal area where the post-holder is employed.4. To contribute to the pre- and post-qualification teaching of clinical and/or counselling psychology, as appropriate.6.
