Consultant Psychiatrist CAMHS - Bexley GMH quadrant

Following new investment, an exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic full time Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to work within the Bexley CAMHS' Getting More Help (GMH) Quadrant. Bexley CAMHS is currently in the process of redesigning its Service Model to align with the Thrive framework, a nationally recognised approach, to help us deliver timely, responsive and needs based mental health interventions for the children and young people in Bexley.

You will sit in the GMH quadrant which will encompass what was previously the Learning Disabilities & Neurodevelopmental Disorders (LDND), and Generic teams. By joining Bexley CAMHS at this exciting time, you will be able to contribute to the redesign, to help shape the service, including new ways of working and become involved in implementation.

Applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly will be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

The Bexley CAMH Services are based at Children and Young People Service, Park Crescent, Erith, Kent DA8 3EE and Queen Mary's Hospital, Frognal Avenue, Sidcup, Kent DA14 6LT. Both of these sites are integrated Children and Young People Hubs within the London Borough of Bexley.

The service provides evidence-based interventions informed by national and local policy via multi-disciplinary teams and treatment pathways, and is aligned to the core principles of the Children & Young People's IAPT framework (CYP-IAPT). The service has close links to local partner agencies including community children's services, acute paediatrics, social services and education.

You will work to provide a specialist service for children and young people up to 18 years old with significant and enduring mental health difficulties and with intellectual disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders, along with their families and carers within the Borough of Bexley. You will manage a complex caseload providing clinical leadership, assessment, and intervention along with the multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) within the GMH quadrant. You will sit in one of the two teams within the GMH quadrant and will also be expected to sit in the LDND special interest pathway. While the Thrive model is being implemented, the post holder will sit in the existing LDND team but will have a caseload from both the LDND and Generic pathways.
