An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic Highly Specialist Psychological Therapist in ADAPT-E in Orpington, SE London. ADAPT-E (Anxiety, Depression, Affective, Personality and Trauma) is a central part of the non-psychosis secondary care community mental service in the East of the borough of Bromley.

The post holder will join an established and integrated psychological therapies team within ADAPT-E which is comprised of Clinical Counselling and Associate Psychologists, Adult Psychotherapists, Art Psychotherapy and a Systemic Family Therapist. There is a clear and supportive local and Trust wide psychological therapies structure including an ADAPTE Lead Principal Psychologist, boroughwide Consultant Clinical Psychologist and wider links to similar teams and Heads of Profession across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post presents an exciting opportunity to develop highly specialist, supervisory and leadership skills within secondary care adult mental health.

ADAPTE has been developing new ways of working with people presenting with interpersonal issues and complex trauma including a structured clinical management group program and a trauma stabilisation group program. These run alongside established provisions including dual modality MBT, EMDR, CAT, 3rd wave CBT, psychodynamic, systemic and integrative approaches. Personal modality preferences will be encouraged and respected.

The post holder will be involved with assessment, formulation and interventions to the ADAPT population. Supervision of doctoral trainees or junior members of the therapy team will also be expected as appropriate. Leadership support will be encouraged with the Locality Lead in terms of service development and development of the MDT more widely.

The Trust has consistently achieved high ratings in quality assessments, patient and staff surveys as result of an organisational culture which supports staff whilst providing excellent services within a robust clinical governance framework.

CPD and training are encouraged through the Trust with recent support going towards EMDR, MBT, CBT for personality disorder and DBT training.
