An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust as a valued Specialty Doctor based at the Woodlands Unit, Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, providing medical input into the Home Treatment Tream.

Building on the Trust's history of helping Speciality Doctors progress onto CT1 training, pass MRCPsych CASC exams and obtain successful CESR applications; Dr Yogesh Ganeshalingam - Consultant Psychiatrist and Trust Specialty doctor tutor will arrange to meet you as part of your induction to the Trust in order to gain an understanding of your career and development goals and provide on-going support.

Main duties of the job
The home treatment team is a busy multidisciplinary service providing acute treatment to adult patients with a range of mental health diagnoses and psychosocial stressors from across the Borough of Bexley. The Trust has an older adults HTT covering those over the age of 65, but all the three boroughs' adult mental health HTTs support this, and at times some patients on the caseload will be >65 years of age. The caseload size varies, and is not capped, but will typically be in the region of about thirty patients, with a relatively fluid and fast turnover comparable to most HTTs.
The post-holder will work with other members of the MDT, including nursing, psychology, social work, and support workers, monitoring individuals' safety, providing a range of social, psychological, and medication based interventions, and working closely with families and carers.
It works closely with the unit's two inpatient wards, Lesney and Millbrook, assisting the unit's management team with their active bed-management programme, facilitating early discharge, and with community teams to help prevent unnecessary hospital admission. The post holder will provide, working with team colleagues, rapid medical assessments of mental state and risk, where appropriate, assist with formulating and diagnosing patients' difficulties in a holistic manner, and instigate appropriate care packages.
