An exciting opportunity in Bexley CAMHS for a full time BYPDAS Specialist Practitioner. The post holder will be based at Park Crescent, Borough of Bexley, working across the CAMHS, Social services, Education setting & other community care pathways. The substance misuse care pathway for young people in Bexley is designed so that the pathway extends across all services to ensure the substance related needs of individual young people can be met at the most appropriate stage, according to severity.
The commissioned service is funded for 3 WTE posts, a full time Specialist Practitioner (Band 6) & 2 Community Recovery Practitioner (Band 4). The Specialist Practitioner will be responsible for the management of the substance misuse treatment service provided by CAMHS in collaboration with the team manager & ensure that each young person is assessed & provided with the appropriate individual or group intervention to meet their needs whether referred by YOS, social care or another service.
The substance misuse posts are designed to be part of an integrated model of service delivery for young people's substance misuse services within Bexley. As such the post holder will work closely with colleagues working as part of the young people's substance misuse treatment system within Bexley.
Main duties of the job
The pathway begins in the Getting Help Quadrant (using the I-THRIVE Model within CAMHS) through targeted services to specialist substance misuse services (Getting More help, through to, Getting Risk support). These services represent the young people's substance misuse treatment system in Bexley. Through partnership working, commitment to addressing substance misuse amongst young people in the borough and through regular review, it is anticipated that the care pathway will facilitate a seamless pathway through the treatment system for all young people according to their individual needs.

- To hold a professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing/ Social Work/Occupational Therapist.
- Have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience working in a health or Social Care setting, with clients with mental health problems and or have provided specialist substance misuse treatment service within a multidisciplinary team to young people aged up to 18 years and their families / carers, whose substance misuse is at a level where their functioning is significantly disrupted and where their substance misuse needs cannot be met by either targeted or universal childrens services.
- Providing clinical supervision and having oversight of the Community Recovery Practitioners (band 4s)
- To be responsible for a complex, specialist caseload, working as care coordinator and working closely in partnership with a range of universal, targeted and specialist substance misuse providers internal and external to the Trust.
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the substance misuse treatment service provided by CAMHS to young people in need of specialist treatment who are referred through the YOS, CAMHS and those referred from other sources who need specialist treatment.
- To liaise with the YOS Manager and the Manager for Substance Misuse within Bexley Council as required.
- Provide a specialist substance misuse resource, providing clinical advice, support, training, and consultation to professional colleagues within CAMHS and those from partner agencies working with young people as part of the substance misuse treatment system.
- The Specialist practitioner will ensure that a flexible, responsive service is provided to young people and whilst the post is based in CAMHS, the service will also be delivered on an outreach basis in settings such as YOS, Bexley Youth Advice and other community resources. There will be close partnership working with professionals in key agencies to ensure that safe and effective care is provided to young people.
- The post holder will collect report data to meet the requirements of performance monitoring through NDTS.
