An exciting opportunity for newly qualified/existing nurses. The post begins at band 5 with a year's development programme incorporated into the working week. On successful completion you will transition to a permanent band 6 Crisis Practitioner role.
The crisis service provides integrated, high quality assessment & support interventions in & out of hours. We work closely with adolescent teams & borough based clinical teams across the 3 boroughs & with tier 4 inpatient services provided by the SLP. The crisis team is multidisciplinary & is supported by a Team Manager, Consultant Nurse, Consultant Clinical Psychologist & a full time Consultant Psychiatrist.
We have been developing & will shortly mobilise a brief intervention pathway to complement our crisis assessments & existing interventions. The pathway will provide CYP across the boroughs to access time limited interventions to support development of self-management/regulatory skills enabling discharge to tier 2 services or strategies to enable self-management whilst awaiting longer term intervention.
You may not have experience of working within CAMHS - This is not a barrier to joining our service. Through a supportive induction process we will work with you to identify transferrable skills. The induction plan will be adapted to support developing areas you may not feel as confident in & we will support you to access additional training to support your development & confidence.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate and deliver individualised care packages / programmes for children and young people and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with national guidelines and trust policy.
To provide specialist mental health advice, consultation and signposted using an outcome based triage model, to the multi-agency network.
To carry out effective bio psychosocial assessments of individuals in crisis referred to the team from community mental health teams, GPs and other sources.
To carry out effective risk assessment and management, seeking advice from multi- disciplinary colleagues and other teams where needed
To provide a range of agreed brief crisis clinical interventions to service users and their relatives in any setting, aimed at increasing the individual's psychological stability
To develop effective crisis plans with individuals which will improve their future resilience
To liaise collaboratively with hospital and community based mental health services, both within Oxleas and elsewhere, also with emergency services and non-statutory bodies.
To maintain comprehensive and timely clinical records in accordance with Trust standards

The post holder must be a good team worker and be able to work within a crisis team managing complex and high-risk children and young people. The post holder will be responsible for working independently and managing a caseload of clients, ensuring safe and effective clinical practices.
The Trust has a three borough-based multidisciplinary crisis pathway across Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich. The crisis service will operate between 08.00am-10pm seven days a week. It will support individuals in mental health crisis with the principal aim of providing an effective alternative to inpatient care. This involves intensive clinical work over short periods of time to prevent the need for admission or facilitate safe early discharge from acute and CAMHS inpatient hospitals. The crisis pathway will comprise of nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, a consultant psychiatrist and a crisis manager.
The crisis pathway will work in close collaboration with the specialist community CAMHS services, Mental Health Liaison services, local authorities and emergency services.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work a varied work pattern including both early, long day and late shifts.
