Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Receptionist to join the Outpatients Reception Team at the Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH). This is an 18 month fixed term position (Monday to Friday), based on site, and includes working towards the completion of an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship opportunity, the successful candidate must have the right to reside in the UK for at least 3 years, and permission to stay in the country for the entirety of the apprenticeship programme (18months).
As a member of the QVH Outpatient's Reception Team, you will often be the first person patients meet when they arrive for their appointment, and will need to provide them with a friendly and courteous service. As such excellentinterpersonal, and customer service skills are key to this role.

Main duties of the job
Your role will see you working in QVH's Main Outpatients Department and Corneo Plastics Unit, as well as covering our virtual appointment system, Attend Anywhere. Your responsibilities will also include booking follow up appointments for patients, answering telephone call queries to the Trust, and helping to respond to emails received in the team's shared inbox.
The Reception areas at QVH are fast paced, so you will need to be able to work well in a busy environment, prioritise your workload, and be flexible to account for ad-hoc requests that my arise throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
- The post holder is required to provide reception duties for the Outpatient Departments (OPD) and Attend Anywhere Clinic waiting areas. This is done on a rota basis.
- To provide administration and clerical support for Trust services, some of which may be non-routine/ad-hoc.
- To ensure clinics are cashed up in a timely manner, and to book follow up appointments for patients after their appointment as required.
- To deliver a responsive, sensitive, and courteous approach to all patients and service users in a busy environment.
