Job summary
Act as service lead for restorative and prosthedontic technology for the South Coast Regional Maxillofacial Clinic & Laboratory Department.
Produce complex/advanced fixed and removable dental and intra-oral maxillofacial devices in the prosthetics laboratory.
Attend the restorative dental, maxillofacial prosthetic and oral & maxillofacial surgery clinics as required, and provide technical laboratory support for these cases, as directed by consultant restorative dentist and/or maxillofacial prosthetists/ reconstructive scientists.
Provide technical support for jaw surgery planning, as guided, and directed, by maxillofacial laboratory staff.
On occasion, provide technical support for the department's orthodontic laboratory service, as required and directed by senior laboratory staff.

Main duties of the job
Design, manufacture and adapt fixed, osseointegrated implant and removable prostheses. Prepare diagnostic analogues, impression trays, vacuum form devices and other appliances, such as radiology stents/splints, gel application trays, implant stents, etc.
Design, manufacture and adapt composite and metal based fixed prosthedontic devices such as implant fixtures.
Coordinate, book/organise and manage own caseload. Prioritise production timetable and incoming prosthedontic cases; taking into account patient need and deadlines/lead times; i.e. elective surgery dates.
Under the guidance and supervision of a maxillofacial prosthetists/reconstructive scientist, plan orthognathic surgery movements and fabricate peri-operative occlusal splints, using manual (face-bow/articulator) and digital 3D planning techniques.
Within the terms of the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021, apply all processes necessary to ensure compliance with current medical device regulation (UK MDR) and terms of the department MHRA manufacturing license.
