Following the re-structure of our cancer nursing team we are able to offer developmental SACT training posts for nurses wishing to pursue a career in haemato-oncology nursing.

In addition we are also seeking experienced, motivated and self driven band 6 nurses to join our cancer nursing team on the haemato-oncology ward at Medway Hospital, sharing our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best Peopleensuring our Trust becomes the first choice for patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

For the band 6 post the successful applicant will possess the SACT Passport

For the developmental band 6 post the successful candidate will have a minimum of 18mths post qualification experience in an acute setting

All applicants must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and organisational skills, and be motivated to support the senior sister and act as a role model for junior members of the team.

You will be able to coordinate the ward, working under your own initiative, prioritising your workload providing safe nursing care.

You will gain skills through audits and management of a small team of staff.

You will have the ability to plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way

To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.

To develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift confidently.
