We are recruiting for a Staff Nurse - CCUwho shares our ambition and vision to deliver theBest of Care by the Best Peopleand has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
The Coronary Care Unit currently has 4 beds and it's expected to extend to 8 beds that treats critical cardiac patients requiring level 2 and level 1.5 care.
Main duties of the job
Nursing duties on CCU include: Cardiac monitoring, ECG's, recording observations, administration of medication include inotropes and medicines titrated to patient response, assisting Doctors with procedures, such as cardioversion, pericardial drains, arterial lines, central lines, transoesophageal echo's, temporary pacing, escorting patients being transferred to London hospitals for escalation of care and treatment. Plus all the basic nursing care of patients.

The CCU team is a small team of 10 registered nurses, with a ward manager and clinical support worker for the day shift. There are two registered nurses per shift, upon expansion there will be 4 registered nurses.
The role will encompass specific responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and expertise within the clinical area.
Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge, practical experience and competence
To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards of both local and national policy
To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines
Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals. This will involve regular liaison with senior nurses and the medical teams
You will tactfully advise on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness, and understand that the acute phase of care may not be the right time for such conversations
Recognise the significance of physical and clinical observations made, and utilise methods of escalation to navigate the possible physical deterioration of patients
