We have an opportunity for a knowledgeable Dietitian to inspire and lead the Paediatric Diabetes service at Medway Hospital. This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave for 1 year.

Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will be working within the paediatric diabetes multi-disciplinary team to provide a clinical service to paediatric diabetes patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate paediatric diabetes dietitian to work as part of the MDT at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. This is well established service offering care to both in and outpatient setting. This post will require you to work alongside the diabetes MDT and will provide a variety of experiences of working directly with patients/parents, close collaboration with other professionals, involvement in education and teaching and quality improvement initiatives.
In addition you will have the support of a very collaborative, fun and engaged dietetic team and therapies department, to develop and implement an advanced paediatric service.
The role is flexible for the postholder to develop in the direction they feel is appropriate for the trust and service.

This is an opportunity for an expert autonomous Dietitian to develop and contribute to the delivery and service improvement of the paediatric diabetes service provided to Medway NHS Foundation Trust.
To be responsible for providing and running the expert dietetic care for paediatric diabetes caseload on paediatric wards and outpatient clinics
To develop and review standards, policies, resources and other improvement activities relating to the specialist services associated within paediatrics, diabetes, within the Dietetic profession and across the Trust.
To supervise and develop more junior staff
To take a leading role in carrying out specialist assessments, evidence-based treatment and management of paediatric diabetes patients who may present with complex and /or chronic health needs that require specialist support and advice.
To be recognised as an expert source of knowledge in the field of paediatric diabetes dietetics, leading on development of clinical guidelines, resources and education packages.
Provide education and support in the nutritional management of paediatric diabetes patients to parents, carers and the wider MDT
To support the wider Dietetic and Diabetes teams during periods of increased demand and play an active role in the supervision and learning of others, including student placements.
