Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will be expected to work towards achieving Approved Clinical Coding Trainer status under Annex 21 terms of appointment.
Once Approved status is achieved, as Clinical Coding Trainer you will have responsibility for the overall management and development of the clinical coding training programme. Accurate and comprehensive coded clinical data is essential for reliable and effective clinical and statistical analysis. A regular internal programme of clinical coding training ensures the quality of coded clinical data to satisfy NHS regulatory bodies that organisations exemplify best practice and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Line management responsibility for clinical coders, including appraisals, 1-2-1s, timesheets.

- Extensive knowledge of the latest national Clinical Coding rules, conventions and standards.
- In-depth understanding of how differences in clinical documentation impacts and translates to differences in the quality of coded data
Experience

- Continuous significant clinical coding experience in an acute NHS Trust across all specialities and complexities
- Experience in using various clinical systems, preferably systems used at MFT
- Experience of delivering presentations or public speaking.
- Experience of mentoring trainee or junior staff
