Grade: Specialty Doctor
Salary: £52,530 - £82,400 per annum/pro rata

We are recruiting for a Specialty Doctor in Haematologywho shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
The Haematology Service at Medway Maritime Hospital requires a Specialty Doctor. The appointee will join the Trust's 6 existing substantive consultant haematologists who provide a comprehensive in-patient and out-patient haematology service for the surrounding district of the Medway Towns (Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham) and Swale, covering a population of 370,000.
The Specialist doctor will be expected to take part in CPD activities and maintain record of relevant college (RCP or RCPath). Locum cover will not be provided for leave. They will be expected to complete Trust's mandatory training.

Specialty Doctors must be fully registered with the GMC and must have at least 3 years full time regular hospital service (or equivalent) as SHO or above of which at least 6 months must be in the speciality of Haematology. The appointment is being made with the intention of improving the service provided to patients within the Haematology service.
This job is expected to cover 10PAs including 8 direct clinical activities and 2 supporting activities and CPD. Annual appraisal will be carried out by Clinical Director of Pathology, and approved by Medical Director.
This post is designed to support the 6 substantive consultants mainly in supervising haemato-oncology patients attending day chemotherapy unit, in addition to outpatient clinics and providing cover for the haematology specialist registrar.
Post-holder will be required to carry out bone marrow biopsy procedures, report blood film and bone marrow morphology and provide clinical and laboratory haematology consultation.
