This is an exciting opportunity for a school leaver with at least one Science A level to undertake a 3 year degree Apprenticeship to become a Cardiac Physiologist.
Working with our patients as a member of the Cardiorespiratory Team at Medway Maritime Hospital you will learn undertake a full range of diagnostic invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations and complete the BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) (Degree Apprenticeship) at Middlesex University.
Main duties of the job

While completing your degree you will be employed by Medway NHS Foundation Trust earning a percentage of a Band 5 Salary (Annex 21).
During your first year you will concentrate on learning to perform 12 lead ECGs, ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring, Exercise ECG and Tilt Table Tests. During your second and third years you will start to rotate through the Cardiac Catheter Suite, Echo and Pacing.
Following successful completion of the 3 year program you will move in to a Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist role at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Working directly with patients under direct and indirect supervision (depending on your stage of learning) you will learn to understand and perform a range of basic (but non-routine) and complex cardiorespiratory investigations, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Under supervision learn to write own reports of investigations on the department database.
With assistance learn to make judgements on the severity of results, ensuring Chief Physiologist or medical staff are informed immediately of any urgent investigation results and that all correct procedures for dealing with urgent and non-urgent results are adhered to.
With the support of a qualified team member learn to ensure patients are aware of the procedure following any investigations and give support and re-assurance if required.
Under supervision participate as a member of the resuscitation team, if required, when an emergency occurs in the department.
