Main duties of the job
Medway NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic leader to join our Infection Prevention and Control team.
The Senior Nurse Infection Prevention & Control will work as a senior member of the Infection Prevention Control team and under the professional leadership and guidance of the Lead Nurse, implementing policies and procedures and supporting Trust compliance with Infection Prevention and Control legislation e.g. The Health & Social Care Act 2008.

The post holder will act as an expert resource in the leadership of prevention and control of infection at a clinical and organisational level, supporting the team in carrying out their responsibilities in delivering an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme of surveillance and investigation coupled with effective risk management strategies within the Trust.
Essential Infection prevention and control knowledge required but additional training and education will be provided for the right candidate.
The post holder will maintain effective and efficient systems for Infection Prevention and Control at Medway NHS Foundation Trust as agreed by the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention & Control.
The post holder will provide strong leadership that inspires and motivates others to take individual responsibility for Infection Prevention and Control.
The post holder will have the authority through expert knowledge to challenge poor or inconsistent practice.
Work effectively as part of the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT), to provide a timely and effective Infection Prevention and Control Service under the direction/ supervision of the Head of Infection Control to meet the competing needs of the service.
To develop and participate in education programmes for all disciplines of staff, on a wide range of Infection Prevention and Control subjects, including Trust induction, hand hygiene training and Infection Prevention and Control update sessions.
The post holder will be the operational lead for the site Infection Prevention and Control Team.
