Medway NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Deputy Chief Nursing Officer to support the Chief Nursing & Quality Officer in leading the Nursing, Midwifery, Allied Health Professionals and the Quality Governance team in delivering the highest standards of care and experience to our patients and their carers within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced Registered Nurse, with proven skills in working in senior positions in healthcare who can demonstrate a passionate commitment to ensuring high quality care. Excellent patient experience and professional leadership will be ideally suited to this role.

The successful candidate will take the lead on the development and implementation of the nursing strategy 2020 - 2023, engaging with nursing and midwifery staff at all levels across the organisation, and liaising with external partners, where appropriate, in its development.

As Deputy Chief Nurse, you will provide expert professional advice to a wide range of staff, develop strategy and implement policy and measure outcomes to assure the quality and safety of nursing and midwifery practice as well as deputise for the Chief Nursing & Quality Officer across a range of functions and meetings and during periods of leave/absence.

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
  • NMC registered Nurse/Midwife
  • Evidence of further specialist leadership and management training

Knowledge

  • Up-to-date knowledge of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers. (Performance Management, operating Framework, capacity planning, payment by results, quality and safety agenda, independent sector development and Foundation Trust issues)
