Job summary

The Transforming Care - Community Forensic Team are now seeking a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist who has experience in or, a particular interest in working with persons who are subject to the Transforming Care agenda and have a forensic history. This post is part of a small team that provides specialist risk assessments and interventions to individuals on the Community Forensic Team caseload, who are a part of the Transforming Care Cohort.

You must hold a current Occupational Therapist qualification with at least 24 months post-qualification experience, or significant pre-registration experience.

Main duties of the job

OT screening

Functional and sensory-informed specific pathways

Functional/daily living assessments

Specialist OT assessments

Sensory screening and standardised assessment

Direct/indirect intervention aimed at person-centred OT needs and goals

Training and consultancy with wider services, offering signposting and advice

Complete Occupational formulation within the wider formulation process

To assess and implement reasonable adjustments for the LDA population

Mentor OT students

Lead on the development of OT within the team

Complete forensic LDA risk assessment and intervention

Complete bespoke care plans

  • Evidence of specialised continued professional development in clinical practice, including accredited training
  • Knowledge of working with autism and learning disability
  • Working understanding of the Transforming Care Agenda

Desirable

  • Training in Sensory Integration
  • Management and Leadership training
  • L'APPLE accreditation

Experience

  • Relevant experience of working with adults with complex needs, or adults with mental health needs and skills that is transferable
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of working with adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) and/or Autism, in community inpatient and forensic settings
  • Experience of working with people presenting with a wide range of complex needs, including forensic presentation
  • Experience of managing clinical risk and making autonomous decisions based on analysis of complex presenting problems
  • In-depth knowledge of reasonable adjustments
  • oDemonstrable evidence of substantial experience of working with individuals in crisis and skills that are transferable to both the community/inpatients
  • Good understanding of community resources
