Job summary
Ward 12 is a mixed acute inpatient ward within the Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust. It's a 20-bed ward for people of working age (18-65) experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
The role of Activities Coordinator is multifaceted and pivotal in providing recreation, engagement, participation, and a sense of purpose through enjoyable activities for our service users.
You will jointly develop, coordinate, and run a programme of stimulating, therapeutic, physical, creative, and social activities aimed at promoting independence and social engagement, meeting the individual needs of patients in this acute setting. These activities will be offered via 1:1 and group sessions.
Your excellent communication skills will be vital for this role, enabling you to develop therapeutic relationships and provide the positive, person-centred input required for this rewarding and challenging position. You will have the skills to work independently, using your initiative, as well as as part of a small therapy team and a larger multidisciplinary team on the ward.
Your team building, delegation, and coordination skills will be essential to ensure a seven-day activity timetable is provided consistently to patients.You will need to be flexible with your working patterns, capable of working during the day, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, and preferably hold a full, clean driving licence.
Main duties of the job
To carry out the role of an activities coordinator within an acute mental health inpatient unit. This will involve planning and delivering a range of relevant and meaningful social, recreational, and therapeutic activities, both within the hospital setting and in the community. A specific focus of this post will be the development and provision of activities during the evenings and weekends.
The activities will be required to meet the needs of the patient group as a whole, in addition to tailor-made programmes to reflect the assessed needs within individual care plans. As patient needs fluctuate rapidly, the nature of the service and activity programmes will need to be fluid and dynamic and promote a recovery ethos.
To assist in clinical practice, promote equality for all individuals, manage information, and maintain resources.
Contribute to the service development of activity provision on the acute wards, including participation in audit and research, care plans, and discharge planning.
