Job summary

Are you a highly motivated individual interested in patient flow within adult mental health? An exciting opportunity to cover maternity leave has arisen in the bed management team. The post is available with a fixed term contract for 12 months or a secondment opportunity.

We are a friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive team looking for someone who is invested in improving patient experience and outcomes.

The post holder will be responsible for working closely with a wide range of teams across the Integrated Care System to support patients and professionals by accessing available inpatient and community pathways. This includes co-ordinating admission requests and supporting overall bed flow within the adult inpatient division.

The team remain involved in care when patients are placed Out of Area and the post holder will attend clinical meetings and visit providers where feasible to promote recovery and quality of care, whilst also planning and facilitating timely repatriation.

It is our aim to promote care as close to home as possible and work towards achieving zero Inappropriate Out of Area Acute and PICU placements by 2025 in line with the national mandate.

The team operates across a 7 day service with a range of early and late shifts covering core hours of 9am to 9pm weekdays and 9am to 5pm weekends and bank holidays.

  • Mentorship Module (degree level )

  • Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice

  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Relevant experience of working with adults with mental health needs. Or clear evidence of substantial experience of working with individuals in crisis and skills that are transferable to both the community/in-patient
