Job summary

Francis Willis is a 15 bedded low secure male unit situated in Lincoln. It provides assessment, care and treatment for males detained under the Mental Health Act. Referrals are received from Prisons, PICU, Acute Wards and other secure services.

The team is responsible for the identification, assessment, care planning, implementation and review of the needs of service users. The nursing team works in partnership with carers, other members of the multi-disciplinary team, community agencies and the provider collaborative.

An opportunity has arisen for a recovery focused, enthusiatic and compassion focused Health care assistant on a full time contract. Hours will be 37.5 hours per week and will include Long Days, Early, Late and Night shifts. As an inpatient service this will involve unsocial hours including weekends and bank holidays.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes Forensic Psychiatry, Psychologists, Social Work, Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers providing care and treatment to mentally disordered offenders.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Healthcare Support worker;

You will be able to communicate with patients, carers and theirs families on a professional basis and provide clinical services that work within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust.

To work as part of a team providing a user-focused, accessible and responsive acute nursing service that is safe, supportive and competent, liaising with other professionals and the supervising nurse.

To have an understanding of the Mental Health Act and Ministry of Justice requirements.

Patterns of working will be by arrangement and may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays.

Facilitate and participate in recreational and physical activities in the provision of health and social care to service users.

Always act in a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients.

Actively promote a responsible caring attitude at all times, treating all patients with dignity and respect.
