Job summary

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join Lincolnshire CAMHS. The service is expanding and developing, and we are delighted to recruit 2 Parent/Carer Support Workers to join our creative and innovative CAMHS teams in Louth and Lincoln CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service).

Each post will be based in their locality Hub. The Meridian Centre for Louth and The Horizon Centre for Lincoln. Each post will at times be required to travel County wide.

Our core operating hours are 9.00am -5.00pm, each hub offers one late night a week and you may occasionally be required to contribute to the late night offer until 8pm. Main duties of the job

With support from registered practitioners, you will provide support to carers whose child or young person have been assessed by the CAMHS team and are waiting for their treatment to begin. You will liaise with families waiting for treatment and offer advice and support appropriate for preparation for therapy. This will include directing families to local resources and self help material that will support recovery, it is also likely to include developing and co-facilitating parent/carer groups.

You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team which includes nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and community support workers. You will receive ongoing support from their supervisor and colleagues and work closely with the carer peer support workers.

Essential

  • Satisfactory level of Secondary education to GCSE English A-C grade or 9-4 grade or equivalent (may be working toward this).
  • Be able to demonstrate a good standard of English.
  • Willingness to undertake further training to support development of peer support role, and child and young person's involvement
  • NVQ 3 in Care or equivalent

Desirable

  • Training in mental health awareness or any other training relevant to this post.
  • NVQ 2 in Care or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Previous relevant experience working with people with mental health problems at a nursing assistant grade or equivalent within a health and social care setting.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment principles
  • Experience in providing support for people in the community or inpatient with mental health needs

Desirable

  • Experience in providing support for children and young people
  • Experience of working with people with mental health needs.
