Job summary

Due to increased funding this is an exciting opportunity to work at the Sexual Assault and Referral Centre (SARC) in Lincoln.

SARC helps any victims/survivors of sexual violence or abuse who are over the age of 18. The Independent Sexual Violence Advisor role is an interesting and varied role which asks the candidate to provide compassionate support to victims who may or may not choose to report their crime to police and the court system. The candidates work closely with police and voluntary support organisations across the county to provide the best possible support to their clients through this traumatic period.

The centre is based in Lincoln LN2 and post holders will work from this site with travel across Lincolnshire to support clients with appointments and court hearings.

Successful applicants will be able to partake in accredited ISVA training via Lime Culture as well as mandatory and essential training offered by LPFT. The Lime Culture training cost is subject to clawback if the successful candidate leaves within a certain time period.

Main duties of the job

Our independent sexual violence advisors (ISVA) are highly skilled and trained to an accredited standard. They work with survivors of:

o rape

o sexual assault

o sexual abuse

whether they wish to go legal or not.

They are independent of the criminal justice system and can therefore give accurate and impartial advice. They support everyone in a non-judgemental way and will work with clients to assess their needs.

Excellent caseload management and diary management is required to ensure the needs of the clients are met.

During appointments, the ISVA will carry out risk assessments, careplans, safeguarding and other actions as required to meet the needs of the client.

ISVA`s will attend both internal and external meetings either with the client or without.

  • Thorough knowledge of impact of sexual violence on victims, families and society.
  • Experience of client face to face and telephone support work, excellent communication skills.

  • Experience of conducting needs assessments and risk assessments
  • Working in a confidential setting
  • Experience of Safeguarding issues, legal responsibilities, working with Clinical Risk including making a safeguarding referral
