Job summary
We are excited to be recruiting to a permanent Band 4 Assistant Psychology post, in the Lincolnshire Children & Young People's Complex Needs Service.
LPFT and Lincolnshire County Council's Future4Me service have successfully developed a clinical psychology-led consultation, training, assessment and intervention model of working to enable Local Authority staff working with young people with the most complex needs (eg young offenders, Children in Care), to access clinical psychology consultation and formulation and support. We help staff consider the possible impact of developmental trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's) on a young person's emotional and/or behavioural presentation, and help staff tailor their interventions accordingly, and identify if any additional services are needed.
The Service includes a Team Co-ordinator, a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist and Strategic Lead, two Specialist Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Children in Care linkworkers, Leaving Care Mental Health Practitioners, the CYP Harmful Sexual Behaviour Service, and two Assistant Psychologist posts.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to support the team in their work across the county, who are offering assessment, case formulation, consultation and training to all staff working with these often complex and vulnerable young people and their families. The post-holder will also hold a small caseload of client based activities, depending on experience.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with young people or adolescents, preferably in a therapeutic setting, with experience of vulnerable populations being advantageous. Good communication and interpersonal skills will be essential as the post will involve offering training and psychological support to workers across the service, and also to the young people themselves and their carers. The post-holder should also have a desire to develop themselves professionally in the field of psychology and will be supported in doing so throughout their time in the service.
Line management and clinical supervision will be provided to the post holder by qualified Clinical Psychologists working within the Complex Needs Service. Continuous Professional Development is actively encouraged by LPFT and there are close links with Lincoln and Nottingham Universities to promote this.
