Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a band 4 ER Officer to join our friendly team and play a key role in shaping how we deliver outstanding ER services.

You will be a good communicator and have a proactive and collaborative approach with enthusiasm to champion the ER service and its delivery to our stakeholders.

You will have excellent administration and organisational skills, a good general knowledge of ER and be able to manage conflicting priorities.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a comprehensive HR administrative support to the employee relations team and trust managers concerning employee relations cases.

You will give support and guidance on the full range of employee relations activities, including the provision of first-line employee relations advice and support to line managers.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To support managers with investigations including grievance, disciplinary, capability, attendance and bullying & harassment, following trust policy and escalating as appropriate, taking statements and assisting with the formulation of the management case, formal hearing invite and outcomeletters.

To support change management processes including assisting in the preparation of consultation documentation, attendance at formal consultation meetings, taking notes and collating the Q&A(questions and answers) sheet, supporting with consultation closure documentation and outcome letters to staff.

To support managers in the preparation of case information for presentation at formal employee relations meetings, including grievance, disciplinary, capability, attendance and bullying & harassment.

To attend formal employee relations hearings/meetings to provide procedural advice, up to first written warning level, taking and transcribing minutes as necessary.

To develop good relationships and partnership working with local staff side and full-time trade union officers to ensure constructive resolution to staffing issues.

To advise and support managers with managing absence, attending relevant meetings as required, following trust policy and escalating as appropriate

To give first line advice to staff on maternity and paternity entitlements as required.

To act as first point of contact for employee relations queries from managers and staff across the trust.

Provide administrative support to job evaluation panels, including setting up a regular schedule of panels; collating relevant paperwork and disseminating to panel members; and communicatingpanel outcomes to managers.

Maintain the employee relations case tracking database.

Support the HR Advisor with managing the compliance checking process across the trust.

Draft standard operating procedures and process documents to ensure that there is a consistent approach to managing issues.

Produce a suite of standard letters to support all employee relations activities.

Support the HR Advisor with the drafting and updating of HR policies.

Support the administration of ill health retirement applications.

Draft or assist in the drafting of toolkits and fact sheets for managers in a language which is user friendly and supportive of proactive management of issues using kinder ER practice in line with the Dido Harding recommendations.

Support the administration of JSCC meetings

Provide weekly ER case numbers for the leadership team meeting and a monthly reporting detailing progress on all cases for the HRBPs and leadership team.

Support data cleansing of ESR and other workforce data systems.

  • Certificate in Personnel Practice or equivalent qualification or experience

  • Working towards CIPD Chartered Membership
