Job summary

We are looking for a Senior Porter to work in our busy Portering department.The portering team provides 15 hour cover 365 days of the year, providing support to the Trust through the resource and job allocation of the portering team reacting to incoming requests.

Main duties of the job

Liaise with various trust staff and departments to provide a flexible service as required by the trust.

When required use Portertrac system to record all general Portering jobsUse E-Rostering and keep records of Annual Leave, Sickness and absence up to date.

Support staff in all training required by the Trust both Mandatory and departmental and record all training in accordance with both the trust and departmental requirements.

In appropriate circumstances, assist nursing and medical staff, when requested, with restless patients.

Assist security staff where necessary to ensure the safety of staff, patients, visitors, and Trust property.

Maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene during the performance of his/her duties.

Work closely with Managers in producing a high standard of service to patients, staff and visitors.

Flexibility in areas of work and have a good working knowledge of the roles that portering staff provide around the trust

Cover for the Portering Team leader when unavailable.Actively monitor Royal Mail and Pitney Bowes accounts and flag any issues.

Assist with the training of new porters and agency staff in their job responsibilities.

Daily walk around, checking general areas are clean, tidy, compliant and functional for the day ahead.

Take the lead for Cardiac & Fire alerts & other emergency situations.Supervise and instruct porters wearing of safety shoes, uniforms/ protective clothing and gloves.

Monitor daily staff attendance accordingly to maintain adequate service levels.
