Job summary
The post will sit within the Data Quality section of the Performance & Information department and will work closely with IT Systems owners, developers and users to ensure the accuracy, completeness and validity of the data captured within the organisation. The post-holder will work closely with Project Managers where data migration between systems is required, and this will be a primary focus of the role as the trust transitions to a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
Main duties of the job
This is a specialist post which will undertake the audit of our core and ancillary operational and clinical IT systems, identify data quality issues and develop rectification plans as required. The post holder will have a comprehensive knowledge of data quality auditing particularly as related to healthcare data systems. They will be confident in identifying data quality problems, addressing issues, and raising these with clinical, non-clinical and third-party supplier/developers to improve system quality and usability.
The initial focus of the post will be the data migration element of new EPR implementation project to ensure that any migrated data is of sufficient completeness, quality, and functionality. However, this role will also support other long-term and on-going system developments where data quality is of paramount importance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILTITES
- Develop a risk-based IT systems audit schedule to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements, good clinical, operational and administrative practice, departmental SOPs and applicable Trust policies.
- Implement an IT systems audit schedule by planning and conducting all internal audits with assistance from external consultants or suppliers as necessary. Prepare internal audit reports. Ensure corrective and preventative action plans developed by the auditees are appropriate and implemented.
- In conjunction with the Data Quality Manager, ensure that any audit plans are complementary with the wider audit programme for the department and findings and recommendations are incorporated into the overall action tracking process.
- Be the lead Quality Assurance contact for IT systems audits, providing advice and support to Application team/ System users. Prior to the audit, undertaking full audit preparation, during the audit attend the opening and closing meetings and provide information on QA activities as required. Post audit, provide responses and ensure all actions are carried out as agreed with the relevant parties through an appropriate monitoring process.
- Develop and maintain a tracking system for audits (internal and external), inspections and serious breaches and ensure all actions are completed within the agreed timeframes.
- Develop a change request log to support ongoing discussion with the third-party supplier.
- Provide regular update to the Chief Information Officer and other key internal stakeholders at senior management level.
- Manage staff and resources as instructed by the Data Quality Manager and act on behalf of the department manager as required, including budget management and monitoring responsibilities. This will include the procurement of training courses, travel etc up to the level agreed by the Finance department.
