Job summary
We are looking for a Medical Equipment Manager to join our Theatres department at Moorfields, City Road.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the of medical devices and the contract monitoring of the outsourced sterilisation service for all clinical areas within the Trust.
They will ensure that equipment is decontaminated as per the defined contract KPIs with the outsourcing provider.
Main duties of the job
The role includes: To be responsible for the management of the SSD Production Area, ensuring efficient and effective use of the available resources to ensure Customer requirements are achieved. Being highly driven and Customer orientated you will motivate, supervise the SSD Team and organise their scheduling / rotas to ensure department is adequately staffed; including performing Performance Development Reviews.
Liaising with a range of staff including SSD Unit &Production Managers, Operational Support Managers, Departmental Engineers and the Compliance / Quality Manager as well as members of the Theatre Teams both on site at City Road and to our wider Moorfields' patner sites, to ensure excellent and clear communication with internal and external customers and to liaise with service users appropriately and as necessary, including user group meetings
To model and foster best practice, training and development through active participation in the production areas and clean room including detailed knowledge and application of the unit machinery, IT systems, and how to rectify user errors.

The Medical Equipment Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the management and execution of sterile service contracts within the hospital. This position requires a combination of strong leadership, organisational skills, and an in-depth understanding of sterile service operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of sterile service contracts, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and facilitating effective communication between the hospital and contracted service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Manage all aspects of sterile service contracts, including negotiation, development, and review of contracts, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of contracted sterile service providers, conducting regular assessments to ensure compliance with service level agreements, quality standards, and infection control protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality assurance programs for sterile service operations, overseeing the inspection and validation of equipment, instruments, and sterilisation processes in collaboration with internal quality assurance teams.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all sterile service operations comply with industry standards, and initiate corrective measures as necessary.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for sterile service contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource utilisation while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
- Relationship Management: Foster and maintain strong relationships with contracted service providers, hospital staff, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration in delivering high-quality sterile service operations.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and develop risk management strategies related to sterile service contracts, ensuring proactive measures are in place to minimise operational disruptions.
