Job summary

We are recruiting for 4 x Band 3 Ophthalmic Technicians for our Brent Cross diagnostic hub.

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking exceptional candidates that share our vision for excellence to work with us here at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As we build on exciting new models of care we are seeking applications to Ophthalmic Technician roles supporting our expanding diagnostic hubs and pathways across the whole trust.

Main duties of the job

The Post holder, after the necessary training and induction, will be an integral member of the ophthalmic technical service, ensuring the effective and efficient maintenance of a comprehensive patient pathway. You should have the ability to work independently as well as working closely with other members of the team. You will be a key member of staff within the diagnostic patient pathway and acquire skills working within the glaucoma, medical retina and cataract service. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes the dignity and human rights of patients and clients.

Full training will be provided and you will acquire various diagnostic skills through a comprehensive competency programme. You will be supervised by senior Ophthalmic technicians who will be able to assist with any learning requirements.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

This post will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.

During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed. The probationary period may be extended or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy. For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.
