Operational Service Manager - UEC

Job summary

The post holder will lead manage and develop a responsive operational support service working closely with the Service Managers to ensure an effective and efficient management of resource to achieve national and local quality and performance targets within budget.

The post holder will have delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities, ensuring data quality and pathway validation across UEC by ensuring that robust clerical systems and processes are established and maintained.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the Service Manager/Business Manager/Team Leader and will have delegated responsibilities for a range of operational activities ensuring data quality and pathway validation across UEC.

The post holder will provide expertise and guidance for Team Leaders and clinical administration teams in the proactive management of patient pathways from referral to discharge. The post holder will ensure processes are implemented and monitored in line with the Hospital Referral to Treatment Access Policy and underpinning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency.

The post holder will also undertake key roles on specific projects as delegated by the Business Manager/Service Manager.

  • Experience of working within a supervisory/management role for at least one year
  • At least one years' experience of operational/flow management
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS patient administrative systems and patient treatment pathways
  • Experience of developing patient flow systems and processes and implementing change
  • Understanding of methods for ensuring effective communication
  • Good understanding of office procedures and technology
  • Knowledge of main Trust policies and procedures pertaining to the role
