Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic General Anaesthetist to join a well-established Anaesthetic Department as a Consultant. The Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain provides anaesthetic cover for three of the Trust's sites, maintains Critical Care facilities on two of the Trust's sites and Chronic Pain Clinics on two sites. The successful applicant will join the Department's on call rota at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The anaesthetic service currently consists of 42 Consultants, 20 SAS doctors and 20 Trainees and covers all the areas expected from a large hospital. Medical specialties include inpatient nephrology and satellite dialysis units on 2 other sites.
The successful candidate will be based in the Anaesthetic Department, carrying out general anaesthetic duties across the Trust and participating in the general anaesthesia on-call rota. At present the frequency of on calls is 1:14, but can vary from 1:12 to 1:15, attracting 3% on call supplement. During on call duties you will be covering general emergency theatre, obstetric theatres and A&E.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will work across the three sites in Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Mexborough to provide excellent Anaesthetic services. The successful candidate will take their equal share of providing emergency anaesthetic cover working the on-call consultant rota based and will be expected to provide cover on a reciprocal basis for Consultant colleagues during short periods of absence. 1.5 PA currently is allocated for the on-call work which currently is a 1:8 general on-call.

In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of Doctors must be eligible to be on the GMC specialist register (evidence required prior to commencement) to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee
