Job summary

Have a responsibility for engineering and building services maintenance at Bassetlaw District General Hospital, including supervision of Estates craftsperson's.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the organisation and supervision of the day-to-day maintenance of the BDGH hospitals and any peripheral residential properties through a combination of directly employed estates maintenance staff and maintenance contract staff.

To be responsible for the assessment of priorities within the overall maintenance plan, including the coordination of daily allocations of work prepared from planned maintenance (PPM) schedules and maintenance repair requests for designation to the respective engineering and building teams and service contractors.

To engage and supervise specialist contract labour and day work labour as required to facilitate planned and reactive maintenance in line with Trust and departmental policies and procedures, ensuring that adequate budgetary control is maintained.

  • Supervisory / management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards and techniques applicable to operational estates management
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in engineering building services operations and maintenance

Desirable

  • Experience in healthcare environment
  • Understanding of health technical memorandum HTM guidance relating to hospital building services
  • Use of CAFM systems
  • Knowledge and understanding across engineering and building

Qualifications / Experience

Essential

  • HNC/HND/BTEC in a subject relevant to the post or suitable equivalent and experience
  • Recognised qualifications demonstrating a background in engineering/construction (City & Guilds, NVQ's etc)
  • Asbestos awareness
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification
  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • Management qualification ILM level 4 equivalent
  • Management of asbestos
  • Legionella responsible person
  • Authorised Person for systems such as HV, LV, Vent, Med Gas, Confined Space, Hot Works, Pressure systems
