This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join one of our innovative and enthusiastic paediatric teams serving the Doncaster and Bassetlaw communities.
The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children's Speech and Language Therapy service is currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with children with hearing loss, working across patient's homes, clinic, nursery and school settings.
A Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist with experience of deafness who wants to develop into a Band 7 Specialist role would be considered and very much encouraged to apply for this position. The successful candidate will also be involved in supporting children who attend the ARC-HI at Plover Primary school in Doncaster.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to:
- To provide highly specialist support for children and young people who are Deaf, and their families, across a range of settings, including additional resource centres.
- To contribute to the delivery, development and organisation of the Deaf pathway.
- To contribute to assessment and advice for children and young people who are Deaf
- To support colleagues across the Speech and Language Therapy service working with children and young people who are Deaf

- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Member of the Health and Care Professions Council
- Recognised informal/formal training in specialist area
- Full driving licence for the UK and access to your own vehicle
Desirable
- CACDP/Signature Level 1 British Sign Language Certificate
- Completed "Developing Specialist Skills in Assessment and Therapy with Deaf People" course (CSD Consultants)
- Completed "Using the PETAL assessment and working on Speech Intelligibility with deaf people" (CSD Consultants)
- Member of Clinical Excellence network, regionally or nationally
Knowledge and Experience

- Significant relevant experience post qualification, including demonstrable evidence working as a Speech & Language Therapist with children with communication difficulties and deafness
- Experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Experienced in the assessment and therapy provision for children with a severe-profound hearing loss and communication difficulties
- Experience of working with children within the home, nursery, mainstream school settings
- Knowledge of best working practice when working with Interpreters
- To implement alternative communication strategies suitable for children and young people within the service
