Job summary
DBTH has preferred provider status to manage the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening programme across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, enthusiastic individual, who has excellent communication skills and is an effective team player, to join our team.
The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw AAA Screening Programme (SYBAAA) is based at Montagu Hospital, Mexborough but is part of the National AAA Screening Programme overseen by NHS England. Every year approximately 10,000 individuals are invited for routine screening to detect AAA. SYBAAA has achieved high performance across the national screening standards since its inception in 2013. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining this excellent record.
The AAA Screening Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Screening Office by organising screening clinics, inviting subjects for screening and communicating with screening subjects throughout the process.
The successful candidate will be expected to work on their own initiative in a methodical and efficient manner ensuring a high level of accuracy in data entry. They will work closely with the AAA Screening Programme Manager to improve the experience for individuals undergoing screening and to develop initiatives to improve uptake.

Main duties of the job
- To ensure that all people who are eligible for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening are offered an appointment.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the monitoring of screen-detected aneurysms through the surveillance programme ensuring scans are performed within national targets.
- To refer men to the vascular service providers for potential repair of large aneurysms.
- To deputise for the Screening Co-ordinator in their absence to ensure the ongoing efficient running of the AAA Screening Programme.
- To work as part of the AAA Screening Team to ensure the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw AAA Screening Programme is delivered in line with the national quality assurance standards.
