Job summary

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join our interventional nursing team in the DSA Suite at DBTH. Are you an experienced nurse with strong leadership potential? Would you like to be part of a small, dynamic, friendly and supportive team?

We welcome applications from ambitious interventional radiology or cardiology catheter lab nurses with significant experience in these specialisms. Working alongside our nurses, interventional radiology and cardiology consultants, radiographers and clinical support team, you will have opportunities to develop specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills. You will join our small team of nurses with the opportunity to supervise and support junior staff as well as developing your own management and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

As a senior member of the interventional nursing team you will need to complete any necessary training for extended/advanced clinical skills and ensure the implementation of safe working practices in accordance with the Trust policy, reporting discrepancies using the Adverse Incident reporting system DATIX, ensuring the Lead Nurse is informed in a timely manner.

You will be expected to take charge of the department in the absence of the Lead Nurse/Sister including managing staff sickness/absence and ensuring safe staffing at all times.

You will be expected to complete and maintain competency of the necessary Clinical Skills Training Packages relevant to the role as agreed by your Line Manager (e.g. Hysterosalpingograms/Vascular Sheath Removal/PICC Line Insertion.) You should at all times act as a role model in demonstrating advanced clinical competence and knowledge in all aspects of Interventional Radiology practice. You will support the nurse-led service in response to clinician referrals for patient's requiring the insertion of complex IV access (PICC line/Midline/Hickman line).

You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be forward thinking and have a flexible approach. You should be committed and keen to drive forward high standards of nursing care, invest in the development of the team, improving the patient experience and be able to facilitate exceptional care that is safe and delivered with compassion.
