Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work as a Senior Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, supporting qualified Speech and Language Therapists working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties.

The post holder will work in community clinics, homes, nurseries and schools carrying out Speech and Language interventions under the supervision of qualified members of staff.

It is essential that applicants have:

  • a minimum of 3 years experience working with children
  • experience of carrying out programmes of care, or work under the guidance of a supervisor or line manager
  • NVQ level 3 in a health or social care subject or equivalent
  • effective communication skills both written and oral

Previous experience of delivering interventions to children with communication difficulties is not essential but would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

To assist and support the Speech and Language Therapists in the management of children with speech, language and communication needs.

To work in a clinic setting and undertake home, nursery and school visits, as appropriate

To provide a support service to a variety of patients as and when required by the supervising speech and language therapist

To independently plan, implement specialised treatment programmes of care and therapy.

To carry out routine departmental duties to promote service efficiency
