Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the Division of Medicine within Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital Trust.

The successful candidate will provide a vital and dynamic team leading role within the Division of Medicine.

You will manage and develop a responsive administration service having responsibility for the day to day management of the Medicine administrative teams, including annual appraisals, annual leave, sickness management and adherence to Trust HR policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about the challenges of a busy working and constantly changing environment, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and to achieve strict deadlines. You will be a highly motivated individual, with the ability to motivate and influence others, suggest and implement ideas to improve team performance and efficiency and will have excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Promoting data quality processes and a right first time approach
  • Responsible for day to day line management of administration staff including receptionists, ward clerks and divisional secretaries to include but not limited to: approving timesheets, recruitment and selection, to ensure working environments comply with health & safety legislation, staff inductions, annual leave, rota management and general day to day staff management as needed.
  • To motivate colleagues and champion service improvement for the division.

Essential

  • Experience and knowledge of a range of administrative and organisational policies and management information systems
  • Experience of data quality management and awareness of 'Right First Time'
  • Experience of working in a pressured busy environment with supervisory responsibilities
  • Ability to work to and promote Standard operating procedures / performance targets
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Previous RTT / PTL Validation and management experience

Desirable

  • Previous waiting list experience

Qualifications/Training

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or suitable equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • RSA III or NVQ III or suitable equivalent level administrative / supervisory qualification or relevant experience
  • Proven competence in using admin and clinical systems e.g. PAS/ MS Word / Excel / Outlook with excellent typing / keyboard skills

Desirable

  • Customer care experience or qualification
  • Handling difficult situations training
