Integrated Sexual Health Nurse - Development Post

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Band 5 nurse to join our busy integrated sexual health clinic. This is a development post, supporting the existing team whilst you gain experience in sexual health.

It is expected that the post holder will progress to gain the following qualifications; STIF (Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation) Intermediate and DFSRH (Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare). The Band 6 upgrade would be anticipated after performance review when the post holder has gained one of these higher qualifications, working towards the second and delivering care for a broad range of presentations in order to meet service needs.

TriHealth Bassetlaw is based at the Ryton Street Centre in Worksop. The service runs over five days with two evenings offering booked, face to face and telephone appointments; it is anticipated that this will include a weekly Saturday clinic within the next 12 months.

We are currently part of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust commissioned by Nottingham County Council. After April 2024 the contract is due for renewal and this service will become part of a new Nottinghamshire wide integrated sexual health service during 2024. Existing staff will be transferred to the new provider on existing terms and conditions (this may or may not be an NHS provider).

Main duties of the job

To deliver comprehensive sexual health and contraceptive services to the population of Bassetlaw. This includes providing a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic care for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and a full range of contraception including LARC. Underpinning the service delivery are safeguarding for adults and young people and health promotion services.
