An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior registered nurse to join the Division of Medicine as ward manager on A4 at Bassetlaw District General Hospital. This ward cares for care of the elderly and rehab patients within General Medicine. We are looking for a senior professional leader who will be working with the Matron and Head of Nursing that will be responsible for the quality of patient care delivered by nurses and professional nursing practice within the Ward A4 at Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The ward manager provides a high level of skills, professional knowledge and advice on nursing and quality to the team. They provide leadership, supervision and management to the nursing teams and specialist nurses ensuring a high quality and safe patient environment, patient experience and infection prevention and control. They are expected to be visible and provide direct patient care and act as a role model with the ability to motivate a team and initiate change.

The Division of Medicine requires ward managers who can be operational and have the leadership skills and vision to ensure the acute patient receives the best standards of care.

  • Can demonstrate the ability to undertake 24 hour responsibility for the ward / department

  • Be conversant with current professional issues related to nursing/midwifery
