Paediatric Specialist Diabetes Dietitian-Band 7 dependent on experience-1 WTE

We have an opportunity for you to join a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at the Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals in helping us deliver care for children and families with diabetes. The field of diabetes dietetics within the Paediatric setting is expanding rapidly and you would have ample opportunity to develop and contribute to this service within our teams.
The service includes dedicated input to diabetes to ensure high quality of care. This includes attendance at diabetes MDT clinics alongside Consultants and Paediatric diabetes specialist nurses. There is also in post a dedicated diabetes administrator.
This is an exciting opportunity to help us design and deliver the service in a novel and innovative way. The Paediatric Dietetic Service provides a valued service across both outpatient and inpatient settings for the communities of Doncaster and Bassetlaw.
We will consider applicants with general paediatric dietetic experience or diabetes experience as a band 6 to band 7 development opportunity as training in paediatric diabetes or general paediatrics can be provided. We would also welcome applicants for both full and part-time working- working base could be Doncaster or Bassetlaw Hospital depending on preference.
Interviews will take place on 1st March 2023 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the provision of highly specialised dietetic advice to paediatric patients with Type 1 diabetes requiring nutritional intervention
To work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team in provision and development of the service including the provision of protocols as under pinned by the clinical governance framework
To educate and train all levels of healthcare professional and medical staff on paediatric nutrition and specialist areas within paediatrics.
To be a member of the paediatric multidisciplinary team and participate in ward rounds, team meetings, case conferences and specialist clinics.
To participate in student training
To line manage junior staff
If appointed as band 6 development post:
To proactively work towards achieving Paediatric Dietetic and Diabetes competencies.
To attend additional tutorials and supervision sessions with clinical supervisor.
