Therapy Assistant - Vascular and Amputees

Job summary

At Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to work within our Specialist Amputee Rehabilitation team. The successful candidate would be required to work across all trust sites within outpatient, community and inpatient settings. They will work alongside specialist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT), to provide effective post operative and prosthetic rehabilitation. They will support specialist Physiotherapists in outpatient clinics providing prosthetic rehabilitation and will be required to provide ongoing therapy in patients' homes.

They will be required to work independently, manage their own caseload of patients as well as working alongside qualified therapists in the management of some shared patients. They must have excellent communication and time management skills. Completing accurate and concise documentation is an integral part of the role and good computer skills are essential to maintain patient records using various information systems including System one and Nerve Centre.

They will need to be empathetic to patients' needs, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to motivate patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Main duties of the job

The Amputee Rehabilitation team are able to provide specialist care for patients throughout their Rehabilitation journey, including pre and post operative, early and prosthetic Rehabilitation. Working seamlessly across care settings to ensure therapy is tailored to each patient's individual needs.

A flexible and pro-active approach is essential for this post as are excellent team working and lone working skills.

Active involvement with students, audit and ongoing evaluation and development of the service will be required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to motivate and support patients. The successful candidate must be organised, flexible and able to empower patients to develop their own independence.

Working within the community environment across Doncaster and Bassetlaw this role requires access to a car and a full driving licence.
