Job summary

The division of Surgery and Cancer would like to invite applicants for a Band 3 post to join the Medical Secretary team within Urology at Bassetlaw Hospital with the potential to work at DRI if necessary for a fixed term period of 12 months. This would be an ideal opportunity for a secondment if you already work within the trust and would like to progress or gain experience as a band 3 at BDGH.

The post is to support Consultant surgeons and will work alongside the existing BDGH band 3 Medical Secretary. The post will be based at BDGH initially but it may be necessary to work at DRI if and when required. If the post becomes permanent in the future, it could be based at DRI rather than at Bassetlaw- please email or call for more information about this if required.

They will need experience in managing the robust systems in place for the administrative engagement of patient pathways. They will need to be able to work flexibly as part of the team - sometimes across sites - to produce clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software from outpatient and inpatient attendances.

Experience in using the PTL (Patient Tracker List) to manage patient's pathway is paramount. A knowledge of medical terminology alongside previous experience of working in a clerical / secretarial role is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support named clinicians and support their colleagues to provide an efficient support to all members of the clinical teams.
