Job summary
We are looking for a Midwifery Support Worker to specialise in 'Early Intervention and Inclusivity' supporting those living within targeted poplulations, areas of deprivation.
It is expected that you will participate in the following:
- Maternal and Baby routine care
- Maternal and Baby observations
- Home visits for Community role.
- Involved in families with complex social needs.
- Transcutaneous bilirubinometer readings
- Maternal and baby blood sampling
- Contemporaneous record keeping
- Parent education
- Infant feeding in line with BFI
- Babies requiring additional needs - you will be expected to work alongside/under the direction of a midwife to provide care to babies requiring extra monitoring and specialist care. This involves multi-disciplinary working therefore excellent communication skills must be demonstrated
Main duties of the job
This unique opportunity is ideal for an individual who is keen to embrace a new challenge and expand their knowledge and skills in a specialist area, you will work under the direction/supervision of the specialist midwife for Vulnerabilities.The midwifery team is a fast paced busy environment to work in and you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of care whilst maintaining a safe, efficient environment.Although the role can be challenging, it will provide excellent personal development opportunities and job satisfaction.This is an excellent opportunity for those that have a NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification in a health related subject and hold Maths and English GCSE grade C and above/ grade 4 or above or equivalent.It is essential that you have the ability to work independently and under supervision. Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential for this post.The successful applicant will be given specialist training and induction from the midwifery education team and support from enthusiastic and dedicated midwives.
Act as support companion within inpatient area as necessary.
Work with the service towards implementing national standards and improvements in maternity care e.g. continuity of carer, CORE20Plus5, and Start for Life.
