An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Cardiologist to join an existing team of nine Consultant Cardiologists working in this successful Teaching Hospital.

Currently this post involves weekend working but no on call but the GIRFT programme is encouraging on call to be provided in all hospitals.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of a seven day a week service however this can be delivered flexibly to maintain work life balance or support a specialist interest at a tertiary centre.

About us

All consultants in post have varying specialist interests and flexible working patterns. Specialist Registrars rotate through the Trust as part of the Sheffield training scheme and are based at Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites. There is also a staff grade post based mainly at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and three nurse specialist posts that cover Doncaster and Bassetlaw sites.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • MBchB/MBBS or equivalent
  • Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise

Desirable

  • Relevant higher degree

Experience

Essential

  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Cardiology
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on range of problems within the specialty
  • Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions

Desirable

  • Wide based experience in Cardiology
  • Attendance at a recognised management course

Teaching and training

Essential

  • Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.

Desirable

  • Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
  • Training in clinical and educational supervision
  • Attendance at a teaching course
  • Formal qualification in teaching/education
