An exciting opportunity has arisen at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Senior IT Systems Engineer to work within the Digital Transformation Directorate. The Trust has embarked on a significant journey to digitise ways of working that will fundamentally improve patient care and strive towards the Trusts true north objective 'to be the safest Trust in England, outstanding in all we do.'
The IT Programme and Development team won the DBTH Star Award 2018 for the development of a Clinical Portal and the Directorate continue to receive nominations and commendations from all levels across the organisation including the Trust Board of Directors.

Main duties of the job
As a key member of a team of skilled staff providing comprehensive services across the organisation, your work will focus mainly on planning and implementing upgrades to Windows Servers and associated software. To support that it is expected that you will have extensive working knowledge of the following systems:
- Active Directory Administration
- Microsoft DNS / DHCP Services
- Scripting Languages (e.g. Powershell; Batch files)
- Data Backup and Recovery tools (e.g. Veeam; Enterprise Vault)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2016
It is essential that you are flexible, enthusiastic and can display high levels of initiative, together with the ability to work under reasonable pressure to deliver your duties individually and as part of a team, with minimum supervision. You must also have excellent communication skills and be able to interact and deal with service users and colleagues in a pleasant and efficient manner.

To provide high quality support and maintenance of The Trust server, storage and data centre components that meets or exceeds standards outlined in Service Level Agreements.
To provide support for major items of work / development of Trust server infrastructure services.
To provide an escalation path for 2ndLine support staff. Escalating and liaising with suppliers, third party suppliers where necessary.
- Provide 3rdLine Support for the ICT Service in the area of Servers, Storage, Application Deployment & Data Centre components
- Rectification and resolving of server and core network dependant service related incidents such as Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP etc.
- To monitor and respond to infrastructure faults and outages.
- To maintain up-to-date diagrams and relevant documentation relating to the server and other infrastructure components.
- Liaise with the ICT Service Desk to resolve infrastructure outages.
- Maintain user guides and documentation for central servers.
- Implement and document changes to The Trust ICT Infrastructure when required.
- Implement and upgrade Trust server systems which are required to meet the tactical or strategic goals of the Trust.
- Contribute to ICT projects and solutions, meeting the agreed quality standards, timescales and cost budgets.
- Support the data and information security requirements of the Trust.
- Understand and resolve complex technical issues in identifying and providing solutions.
- Ensure that any system or service implementations they contribute towards are fully tested and comply with security and confidentiality standards.
Communications
- The post holder may be required to communicate with project stakeholders to provide feedback and details of emerging issues.
- Ensure system and user documentation is available for all systems they implement or upgrade and make sure that this is kept up to date.
- Ensure an effective handover to other ICT staff groups (e.g. Second Line) by providing appropriate documentation.
- Liaise with other members of the ICT Dept. to ensure the effective and efficient resolution of technical issues.
- Record work/task activities in the departments HelpDesk system including regular and relevant updates.
Analytical Skills
- Will respond to complex queries relating to Trust server & storage infrastructure.
- Will identify and diagnose system problems; providing resolution or temporary workaround options.
- Will provide expertise to the implementation and ongoing support of Trust infrastructure systems.
Planning & Organisation
- Support other members of the Infrastructure team in the delivery of ICT projects.
- Prioritise own time whilst ensuring deliver of targets set out by the IT Technical Operations Manager
- Adhere and contribute to the creation of departmental change control procedures; providing feedback to the IT Technical Operations Manager where appropriate.
- Will need to be flexible and adjust work schedules in order to meet departmental, Trust and customer requirements.
- To participate in internal forums, meetings and standing committees as required and to contribute information in regard to central services.
- Create technical documentation with a clear understanding of the business and user needs.
