Job summary
The Orthodontic team at Mexborough Montagu Hospital are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Orthodontic Therapist. Candidates will have proven experience within the Orthodontic Therapist role and be able to evidence their current skills and knowledge as specified on the person specification. This vacancy is for 30 hours and is based within the Oral Maxilla Facial Department at Mexborough Montagu Hospital.
Main duties of the job
To undertake independent led clinics and liaise closely with the Orthodontic team to manage and provide ongoing treatment plans. The candidate will provide specialist contribution to the clinical management of patients requiring orthodontic treatment in collaboration with the Multi disciplinary team and maintain high standards of clinical care with reference to relevant research and evidence based practice.
As a senior member of the team the appointed candidate will be expected to participate in audit, research, clinical governance and Quality Improvement with the service. Lead roles in relation to these integral processes are assigned as part of the induction process, support and development will be provided.

Assess patients needs to establish change in condition, liaising with the Consultant Orthodontist to inform clinical decision making and referring back to source as patient condition and agreed pathways indicate. Build upon current skills to ensure precision and accuracy in carrying out orthodontic treatments is maintained. In collaboration with the Consultant, patient and their family, identify individual needs and beliefs when formulating a management plan ensuring holistic approach to care. Participate in joint patient consultations with Consultant as necessary. Promote programmes of health education and health promotion with service users and visually throughout the department
