Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to lead our Dermatology Service. The role of Department manager will lead our rapidly growing service, manage a caseload of patients with dermatological skin conditions and be an expert point of contact for junior colleagues.

Dermatology Outpatients Department is primarily based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary but as department manager there will be an expectation you will work at Bassetlaw and Mexborough Montagu. The department cares for patients with acute and chronic skin conditions, and with skin cancers. We provide a wide range of nurse led outpatient clinics, surgery, phototherapy, complex wound care and patch testing amongst many other aspects. We also care for inpatients with complex dermatological needs

Dermatology experience is essential.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients who require treatment of Dermatology conditions and skin cancers in the Secondary care setting. To promote a high standard of Dermatology clinical care both in secondary care by empowerment through coaching, teaching and facilitating.

As the department manager the post holder will co-ordinate and manage Dermatology clinic activity through resource management and staff development. To lead and participate in nurse led audit ensuring a high standard of research bases nursing care is achieved.

The post-holder will provide nurse led Dermatology clinics, nurse led surgery and skin cancer clinics for both new and follow up patients.

Carry out full assessment of patients and reach valid, reliable conclusions, which manage risk.

Manage a patient caseload and make appropriate referrals to others.

Provide audit and statistical information regarding the services provided.

  • Proven dermatology experience at Band 6 level
