We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and progressive Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and welcoming team to take up the role of technician practitioner - medication safety technician
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the investigation of incidents, spreading good practice throughout the pharmacy department, supporting medicines safety and clinical governance. The post holder will work closely with the medication safety officer, chief technician and principal Pharmacy Technician for Education and Training.
The post holder will demonstrate competence in dispensing, checking and other relevant pharmacy activities before undertaking medication safety and governance functions under the management of the Chief Pharmacy Technician, working in collaboration with the principal technician for education and training and the Trust Medication Safety Officer (MSO). As a registered Pharmacy Technician, the post holder will support the investigation of incidents, spreading good practice throughout the pharmacy department, supporting medicines safety and clinical governance and be expected to work within the professional standards of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The post holder will be a pharmacy technician practitioner and spend approximately 50% of their time on technician practitioner medicine Optimisation duties

Delivery of clinical pharmacy services in accordance with Trust requirements and procedures. This is an extended technical role taking on a range of tasks traditionally performed by Pharmacists. This advanced level of technical professional practice requires the application of clinical pharmacy expertise underpinned by theory and knowledge with minimum supervision. The main elements of the role include: As part of a team of clinical Technician Practitioners, to provide out of hours pharmacy services in accordance with Trust requirements and in line with policies and procedures, in order to secure 7 days a week access to pharmacy services for Patients of the Trust. This includes working weekend shifts on a one in six basis. Provision of Clinical Pharmacy Services to designated wards and medicine information. Including:o Personal delivery of clinical pharmacyo Provision of advice at an individual patient care level. To hold or be working toward the Level 4 Professional Diploma in Pharmacy Clinical Services or have made significant progress to completing the North School of Medicines Optimisation Advanced Clinical Learning Programme and completed the DBTH 18 month Technician Practitioner Competency Development and Assessment Programme Participate in the development of the Medicines Optimisation service provision across all of the Trusts sites. To undertake the management, ordering and supply of medicines at ward level against agreed protocols. To participate in the development of a range of Medicines Optimisation activities at ward level. Act as a key member of the multidisciplinary ward team. To act as an Accredited Checking Technician To participate in audit and clinical governance activities and ensure compliance with medicine legislation within a specialist area. To manage allocated technicians and provide training and mentorship to individuals on the band 4 technician development programme To manage, co-ordinate and advise staff in allocated area. To provide clinical supervision to a nominated group of pharmacy technicians.
