Main duties of the job

You will lead of a team of midwives passionate and dedicated to Midwifery led care and the promotion of normality.

You will work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team, labour ward midwives and community midwives to enhance the woman's experience of care and ensure that the needs of the woman are placed at the centre of care.

Be flexible and open to new ways of working as we review and re-evaluate our service.

Ensure safe and effective clinical practice ensuring knowledge, skills and competencies are current and act as a clinical expert to disseminate specialist skills and knowledge to others.

  • Registered Midwife with active NMC registration
  • Teaching or mentorship qualification.

Desirable

  • oManagement / leadership qualification.
  • oEducated to Masters level or working towards
  • oNeonatal Life Support Trained or willing to undertake the course on appointment
  • oNIPE trained or willing to undertake the course.

Experience

Essential

  • oBand 6 Midwife with a minimum of 2 years intrapartum experience.
  • oExperienced in caring for low risk women
  • oAbility to co-ordinate and manage obstetric emergencies
  • oAbility to provide relevant advice to junior midwives and doctors on a variety of management and clinical issues

Desirable

  • oEvidence of change management experience.

Interpersonal Skills

  • oDemonstrate ability to work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • oAble to demonstrate and promote personal resilience and provide support to the team to maintain a positive workplace culture.
