Maternity cover - fixed term for 9 months
Band 6
Part time 27 hours, to be worked across 3, 4 or 5 days to suit your work/life balance.
Acute Inpatient caseload comprising of Dysphagia and Communication.
Role may include Head and Neck Cancer, Voice and Tracheostomy if you have the competencies.
Main duties of the job
We're a dedicated, warm, welcoming team looking for an enthusiastic, organised and pro-active Speech and Language Therapist, to deliver quality Speech and Language Therapy services for patients with communication disorders and dysphagia across all inpatient acute wards at Doncaster Royal Infirmary/Bassetlaw Hospital sites.
Outpatient Head and Neck, dysphagia and voice work may also be available, depending on your skillset.

Job responsibilities
The Adult Speech and Language Therapy service provides inpatient and outpatient services for patients with communication and dysphagia. The outpatient caseload is voice, ENT, head and neck, gastrology, respiratory and medically undiagnosed dysphagia. The inpatient caseload covers all acute wards. We have videofluoroscopy for inpatients and outpatients and accept referrals from Community SLT Trusts and Rampton Hospital. You will have access to this clinic. Our FEES Service has just started and is in progress.
You will work with the rest of the SLT team in assessing, treating and managing inpatients (including AMU, Critical Care, Frailty, Dementia, ENT, Surgical, Cardiology, and Respiratory wards) and be responsible for the organisation and efficient flow of caseloads, playing a key role in supporting the Speech and Language Therapy Clinical Team Lead with the operational management of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy service. There will be opportunity and requirement to support the hyperacute and acute inpatient stroke SLT service also:
If the candidate has the appropriate competencies, the role may include working with inpatients with tracheostomy and head and neck cancer as part of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary team. You will work in liaison with other members of the Speech and Language Therapy team and wider MDT members both at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and across our region. Our Trust participates in a weekly Regional Head and Neck MDT meeting, ongoing regional Head and Neck MDT development and a regional Head and Neck Speech and Language Therapy working group.
The role may involve delivery of wider MDT training/education in dysphagia and communication as needed.
